Can MAT be combined with personal training?
Muscle Activation technique (MAT) is most effective when combined with personal training. As mentioned before, MAT can be useful in restoring neuromuscular balance at joints. To ensure that those joints stay stable and balanced a strategically progressed training routine is imperative. If properly progressed through exercise, joints that were previously unstable will be able to withstand greater physical demands. The key, however, is the appropriate progression through training intensity. Additionally, MAT is a very accurate muscle-skeletal assessment tool. MAT can show ranges of motion in which a client is weak and unstable. Given such information, a trainer can choose a safe course of training and avoid stressing motion(s), joint(s), or muscle(s) that may not be ready for challenging resistance.
