Can Marketing Management Philosophies be applied to modern day school?
A modern day school can be liken to a marketing organization. A school has all the criteria to satisfy itself as a marketing organization. First, it has the infrastructure, i.e. buildings, machinery in the form of teaching aids and capital in the form of government grants and students fees collected. Secondly it has the human resource to produce something, In this case, the teachers and support staff. Thirdly, it has goods to offer in the form of a service, education. Lastly, it has clients and customers, that is, the students and parents who send their children to school. So, since a school satisfies all the criteria of a marketing organization, shouldnt it be run like a marketing organization? Well, in some ways but not in others. There are four marketing management philosophies. Production Orientation This philosophy focuses on the internal capabilities of the organization rather than the desires and needs of the marketplace.
