Can LynxGuide be integrated with oracle?
LynxGuide uses SQL server. The useful data you may need to import into LynxGuide are phone numbers and email addresses. MS Excel or Open Office spreadsheets can query either database. So a simple mechanism to copy data from one database to the other is to use Query Analyzer in Excel (or make a list of emails and telephone numbers in Excel), and them simply paste them into a Private Group or Public group in LynxGuide. Once they are in, the end users can maintain the list ( see Q: Can end-users maintain their own data? below) It is not a difficult task to get Lynx to read from Oracle and write to SQL server. The language we use, Perl, is easily modifiable. ( Source code is included) It can support both databases at the same time. The technique is called ODBC, and it is built into the server. Many other languages support ODBC, including VB, VB/Net, Java, C++, and C#. For example, assume there is a public group of teachers called “Public/Teachers” already defined in LynxGuide. A list of em
