Can Lukman spearhead this reform?
Dr Lukman is seen as the ultimate man to carry out the reform, considering his vast experience in the oil and gas sector, having served for many years as Nigeria’s Minister of Petroleum and worked in the secretariat of OPEC in Geneva as secretary-general for many years. In an interview with Sunday Trust, Mr Kola Karim of Shoreline Energy Limited says this about Dr Lukman’s qualification for the tough task: “Dr Lukman is one of the most experienced oil technocrats in Nigeria and in Nigeria’s history. For someone who has been the OPEC Secretary General for sometime to now hold forte as the nation’s superintendent of petroleum, you can imagine what such a person would bring to bear on the sector.
