Can Logic Studio be used live?
Can Logic Studio be used quickly & easily to play back backing tracks (both audio and MIDI) in a live setting? I need the sequencer functionality for controlling external devices cued to MIDI, so Mainstage is out. I don’t know how much would be involved in switching songs though. In a live setting, you need to be able to move fast. I’ve heard MOTU’s software has a “playlist” feature that allows tracks to be sequenced (and even chosen with program change commands via MIDI), which sounds nice. Logic’s update is very appealing though, and I want to know what it can do. For reference, I’ve been using Sonar on the PC for a decade. (Well, Pro Audio back then!) My band setup is just myself (a techy guitarist, primarily) and a singer/pianist. We recently lost our dedicated synth player who ran our set from hardware sequencers and a combination of samplers and MIDI gear.
