Can local governments apply for Caring for our Country investment?
Across Australia local governments are playing an increasingly important role in managing our natural resources. Local government has a range of functions, powers and responsibilities at its disposal for the development and implementation of relevant natural resource policies and programs within its jurisdiction. Local government organisations are eligible to apply for funding through the Caring for our Country 2011-12 business plan either by themselves or in a partnership with any other eligible organisation. A good proportion of applications from local government have been successful in previous years. Applications for projects that address the Caring for Our Country 2011-12 business plan priorities for investment are invited from local government. Applications for projects on a landscape scale are particularly welcome.
