In general, the answer is no, the two coats will not be compatible, though it is possible to combine lime and gypsum together in the same mix sometimes. If you do want to plaster lime on top of gypsum based materials, the only option is to use St Astier Decofond (skim) or Prepbond (bonding coat) which are specially formulated for this job.
