Can leucovorin calcium be used as eye drops?

0

Some hospitals have a compounding protocol for leucovorin calcium eye drops. Such protocols describe the use of leucovorin calcium as raw material and acetate as buffer. The pH of eye drops in general has to be between 5.0 and 8.5, preferably 7.4. Leucovorin calcium contains several excipients from which it is not known whether they are suitable for use in the eyes. Therefore we do not recommend the use of our leucovorin calcium as eye drops.
