Can laser refractive procedures cause me to lose vision?
As with any operation, PRK and LASIK are not risk-free. In the U.S. studies of PRK using the VISX excimer laser, serious complications or problems occurred in less than 1 % of the patients. These complications included losing a significant amount of vision even with glasses, too large a correction causing farsightedness, and visually significant corneal haze.
