Razor Bumps and Ingrown Hairs are reduced with Laser Hair Removal because the hair that is irritating the skin has been disabled by the laser treatment. Frequently an improvement in the discoloration is also seen after treatment. Razor bumps, known as Pseudofolliculitis barbae is commonly experienced by people with coarse or curly hair. After shaving, the hair is cut close to the skin. It then becomes trapped within the skin when it tries to grow out creating an inflammatory response that looks like a bump. Waxing and tweezing can also cause bumps and dark spots because the hair is plucked deeply below the skin and this increases the probability of the hair getting trapped as it tries to grow back out of the skin.
