Yes, Kick-off! uses a patented combination of both hardware and software to ensure the hardware will take over and restart the computer when all else fails. The Kick-off! software periodically sends a signal to the Kick-off! hardware. If the hardware stops receiving this signal, it knows the computer has crashed and automatically restarts it by turning off the power to the computer, then turning it back on to reset it.
