Yes – for instance teaching and research in a single new or refurbished building. However usually only the research elements will count within the SRIF programme. For example, in a £10 million building – if 20 per cent of the building is predominantly used for teaching and 80 per cent is used for research, the investment would count as £8 million within the institution’s overall SRIF programme.
