Can Israelis and Palestinians just pretend that they love each other?
How can you pretend? Israelis are not false.Arabs have always hated the Jews, its not Israel thats causing all the hate.Hated has existed for centuries, well before the rise of the modern State of Israel. Rather than Israel being the cause of hate, it is more likely that the distorted media coverage of Israeli policies is reinforcing latent anti-Semitic and hated views. As writer Leon Wieseltier observed, “the notion that all Jews are responsible for whatever any Jews do is not a Zionist notion. It is an anti-Semitic notion.” Wieseltier adds that attacks on Jews in Europe have nothing whatsoever to do with Israel. To blame Jews for anti-Semitism is similar to saying blacks are responsible for racism. I think the only way to solve the conflict would be a 2 state sollution, The idea of a binational state is not new; it was first proposed by prominent Jews such as Judah Magnes in the 1920s. I don’t need to pretend, I truly love most Palestinians(Not the ones that deliberately hurt other people, but that goes for Israelis as well), because I know that all people are born equal. Nevertheless, I do support a two state solution, but not because I hate them, but because it doesn’t seem possible that we will live peacefully in the same country, considering our history, and the leaders that they choose for themselves. It would be like two very different nationalities in one country. Even in Belgium, a modern western country, and the home of the EU, that is very problematic, so here, where there is much more tension between the two groups, I don’t see it happening. I think it should have been two states since the UN declaration of 1947. And it’s not a stupid question.
