Can intra-uterine vegetable product allergy also take place? Is maternal diet of importance during pregnancy and lactation?
Intrauterine allergy is rare, therefore maternal diet during pregnancy is not of importance for the development of allergy. However, sensitization to food antigens via the breast milk is possible in allergic babies, especially if some allergy runs in the family. Maternal avoidance of some particularly allergenic foods like cow’s milk, fish and nuts may be considered.
