Can institutions use contact details for the leaver provided by a third party?
In general institutions should only use the contact details provided to them by the leaver. However, if in the course of the survey a third party gives an interviewer a contact telephone number for the leaver, this may be used providing the interviewer states where the number has come from and gives the leaver an opportunity to object to the call at the beginning of the conversation. The telephone number may only be recorded for future contact purposes outside of DLHE if the leaver gives their permission.
