Absolutely. War losers’ children feel shame simply because no children like loser parents. The military losers of WWII got strange, heavy behaviour after the defeat, after the years in prison. They were silent, they lacked joyful behaviour like other persons in the society because the war was over. They were depressed. Our parents never felt shame. They felt sorrow. The shame was the exclusive feeling of the children. The more our parents showed sorrow by being isolated and by isolating themselves in the society, the more we children felt shame for their lack of joy, energy, participation. Due to the reigning non-peace or refusal of a reconciliation, planned and wanted by the victors, the feeling of shame has developed and given deep wounds in the losers’ children.
