Can inline skate wheel bearings become over-lubricated?
Not really. Lubricant is either burned-up or lost as it leaks from your bearings due to the high centrifugal force of skating. So, it’s smart to add lubricant when you can. With DISCOIDS you can see when too much lubricant may have been added (like in the Before and After photo on this site) and be confident that the intricacies of your wheel hubs are protected from the build up of grime that leaking lubricant causes. Without DISCOIDS, that build up would quickly contaminate your wheel bearings! We’ve found most bearing contamination makes its way into bearings from being allowed to build-up over time. Unfortunately, it’s scraped right into the narrow space around the ring in the center of your bearing (the “inner race”). Because you can easily wipe away the mess that accumulates on the smooth, flat surface of DISCOIDS (instead of in all the nooks & crannies of the sides of your wheels and bearings) and because you do this before taking-off the wheels or without even taking-off the whe
It is not necessary that inline skate wheel bearings becomes over-lubricated. Bearings giveĀ maximum speed at time of skating . It is lubricated using thin synthetic-based gel so it does not leak out andĀ will not attract dirt to the sides of the bearings. 2-3 drops of oil is sufficient but do not use too much as it leaks out and will make bearing dirty thus attacting contamination.
