Can inline centrifugal fans be used for kitchen grease exhaust applications?

0

Inline centrifugal fans (GFC models TCB or TCF) are not recommended for use in grease exhaust applications. The main reason to avoid this application is the difficulty in maintaining a leak tight connection between the welded duct system and the fan. Also, access to inline fans for high pressure cleaning is usually impossible. In regards to the grease exhaust duct, inline centrifugal fans could increase the potential for grease leaks. Inline centrifugal fans positioned near the inlet of the duct system create a pressurized duct downstream of the fan. Any cracks or improperly welded connections will be locations for grease leakage inside of the building. If an inline fan is required for grease exhaust, our recommendation is to place the fan at the discharge end of the duct.
