Can informational suppressors suppress missense mutations too?
Sure. You can have any kind of mutation in a tRNA. However, substituting an amino acid for a stop codon, giving a full-length protein, is going to have a higher chance of suppressing a mutant phenotype than substituting one amino acid for another would (there are lots of a.a.s, so the mut tRNA could still put in the wrong one!
