Can infertility treatment cause sexual problems?
Yes, unfortunately it can. While the couple’s sexual relationship has previously been a spontaneous and intimate affair, they may find they are now expected to perform sex to order, having intercourse when the follicle is 18 mm. on the ultrasound scan and so on. When sex becomes essentially an exercise whose only function is to achieve pregnancy, the basis is laid for a great deal of tension. Discussion with an infertility counsellor may well be of help.
