International Tiger Day (September 28th) is a chance to reflect on the dire situation facing one of the world’s iconic species. Close to 96% of the world’s wild tiger population has vanished in the last 100 years, mainly due to poaching and loss of habitat. As few as 4,000 tigers may now remain in the wild.
