There are a couple of other options besides IIS express that are worth considering. Cassini allows you to host ASP.NET websites, but has several limitations. The XSP webserver in the Mono distribution is worth looking at. Finally, there is a commercial product called Neokernel that lets you embed a web server in your application without requiring a seperate installation, but it’s not free.

The Beta version of IIS Developer Express can only run as a separate executable and cannot be redistributed or embedded. This is being investigated for future releases.
