Can iDoubler process or decrypt M4P files from the iTunes store?
• YES, if you have downloaded the music files in non-encrypted form. Currently, songs you download from the iTunes online music store are transmitted to you in either M4A/AAC (unencrypted) format or M4P (encrypted). iDoubler will compress the unencrypted M4A/AAC files with no trouble at all. However, M4P is an encrypted audio format with DRM (Digital Rights Management) information incorporated within it. These files contain your personal user account information and encryption key information. iDoubler will not process content with embedded DRM (digital rights management) protection. This is necessary for the software to be compliant with US copyright law and the Digital Millenium Copyright Act (DCMA). However, these are the only files that iDoubler won’t touch. If you have a mixture of normal music files (MP3, M4A, MP4, etc.) and copy-limited content (M4P) on your iPod, iDoubler will compress everything except the protected M4P files.
