Can I write off my breast augmentation if I got the procedure done before a stripping/dancing job?
Since you were not in the business when the procedure was done, I think your deduction would be disallowed. It could be argued that the procedure was done in the hopes that you would be able to get work. Expenses to get into a new profession are not deductible business expenses. This is similar to a person taking voice or acting lessons in anticipation of getting work singing or acting. The cost of the lessons while not working as a singer or actor would not be deductible business expenses. But the costs of such lessons after a person started working as an entertainer might be deductible.
