The Business (Short Stay) visa (Subclass 456) is not intended for work, and persons granted this visa are generally not allowed to undertake any work in Australia that can be done by an Australian citizen or permanent resident. Very highly specialised or emergency work which cannot be done by an Australian may in certain circumstances be done by a person who holds a subclass 456 visa, but this must generally be for a total period of six week or less over the life of the visa. People intending to work in Australia should consider the Business (Long Stay) Subclass 457 visa.
