Can I wear the BSA tan shirt with the green Venturing shoulder loops? Can our crew choose to adopt the Boy Scout tan shirt as our crews official uniform?
• No and no. In August 2008, the BSA changed the standard Boy Scout uniform from red shoulder loops to forest green shoulder loops. Because of this change it was then mandated that Venturers could no longer wear the Venturing green shoulder loops on the BSA standard tan uniform shirt, as was very common practice for many crews with members that were registered both in Scouting and in Venturing. It is assumed that this change was to eliminate confusion between the different green colored shoulder loops. As for adopting the Boy Scout tan shirt as a Crew uniform, this is not accepted as the Boy Scout tan shirt belongs exclusively to the Boy Scout program.
