Can I wear Lyrical Shoes to Modern Dance Class?

0

I’m a modern dance teacher. Lyrical and modern are really not the same… or even similar. That’s like saying jazz and hip-hop are the same. In the classes I teach (and in all the classes I’ve taken, and the companies I’ve worked with) we go barefoot. The idea is to “grow your shoes”. Your feet will be a little sticky on the floor at first and it’ll take some getting used to, but eventually you’ll build up calluses and it’ll be great. Modern dance is actually the early 20th century rejection of ballet. Removing shoes and connecting with the ground was one of the original foundations of the movement. I hope you like your class!!!
