Can I view images directly on FastPictureViewer as I shoot them (tethered mode)?
Yes. FastPictureViewer Professional directly supports MTP/PTP (Media Transfer Protocol / Picture Transfer Protocol) and is able to pull out images are they are shot from any MTP/PTP compliant cameras, including numerous models from Canon and Nikon, over a live USB2 connection (no special manufacturer software or hardware is required besides an USB 2.0 cable of suitable quality and length). The tethered mode is activated by pressing Ctrl+T or from the task bar right-click popup menu. Just make sure your camera is set to “MTP/PTP mode”, sometimes simply called “PTP mode” and plug-it in (check your camera’s documentation to find out if MTP/PTP is supported and how to turn it on, typically somewhere around MENU->SETUP->USB in the on-camera configuration menu).
