Can i use vineger or lemon juice to make acid wash jeans?
The other answers are correct — vinegar and lemon juice are too weak. We used to lighten our jeans back in the 1970’s using bleach. Yes, chlorine bleach is dangerous to breathe directly (and the guy who told you to use a dust mask to protect yourself is WRONG, WRONG, WRONG — dust masks do NOT block fumes. You would need a charcoal filtered respirator mask and they cost about $40). But you really don’t need a respirattor if you simply add bleach to the automatic washing machine water — use the small load setting, fill it with hot water first, then add your jeans and let them get wet, THEN add about a cup of liquid bleach to the wash water. Let the washing cycle run and rinse. If they are not light enough for you, repeat the cycle with more bleach. You can also get a bleach “pen” at the grocery store cleaning products and laundry section — you can use this to make lighter spots and streaks on the jeans. Test this first on an old pair you don’t care about though because it will bleach
