Can I use video conferencing software such as MSN Messenger, Netmeeting, iChat, AOL Messenger?
ResNet currently operates a fairly rigid firewall policy on the firewall surrounding the residence network. This does not normally permit services which require dynamic port assignment or services that require a range of ports to be open in order to establish a connection. While students may be able to use text chat with MSN, AOL, iChat etc, there are limitations in place which will restrict the use of video conferencing with hosts positioned outside the residence network.
