Yes, in fact, it should be encouraged. Post workout (PWO) drinks are seen as an optimal time for fuelling recovery. To this end fat has often been seen as the wrong thing to include, as it slows the gastric (stomach) emptying, and would therefore slow down the protein on it’s way to your muscles. However, the actual effect of fat on gastric emptying is quite different in practice. It does not slow down the initial release of protein, however does make the release last for longer. This means that protein is reaching your muscles as quickly as without fat, however, it also means that your protein drink is giving you a more sustained release of protein, keeping you in positive nitrogen balance for longer.
