Can I use the Xiocom Wireless HotZone service outside or inside my home?
Yes, if you are in our service coverage area you can use the service both outside and inside your home. The Xiocom Wireless HotZone network is LAN-based, not cellular; therefore the service is intended to be used from within specific physical locations. In some cases, coverage will spill out into a small area surrounding a service location, but that is not by design. Although the Xiocom Wireless HotZone service would not be available, the Wi-Fi 802.11b technology is not proprietary, and equipment can be purchased to establish a home Wi-Fi wireless network. The same wireless networking card could be used on both a private Wi-Fi network and Xiocom Wireless’s public Wi-Fi network.
