The Secunia PSI is able to identify what software you have installed by matching the file information of scanned files to the Secunia Database. To check which programs may be vulnerable and which ones aren’t, it uploads the information from your computer to the Secunia server. Because of these dependencies, you cannot use the Secunia PSI offline, as it requires an Internet connection to both identify the software and give you the results.
