Can I use the noise reduction in the iEQ or 20 Series EQs for eliminating noise in my system?

The dbx type III & Type V noise reduction in our current EQ models (iEQ and 20 Series EQs) was not designed to be a single ended noise reduction for eliminating tape hiss. The noise reduction in our current EQ models is for lowering the inherent noise within the dbx EQ model only and will not reduce any other noise that is inherent in the system (i.e. any other device in the system). Unfortunately, dbx no longer manufacturers noise reduction units for use with consumer or professional tape recording systems. If you need a hardware dual ended device (Encode/Decode) we recommend the 140X for Type II (for use with consumer tape systems) or the 150X Type I (for use with professional reel to reel machines). These models are no longer manufactured, but can still be found on the used market.
