Can I use the Kevin and Kell characters in my own stories and art?
Bill Holbrook appreciates fans who may be inspired by K&K to create fan fiction or fan artwork, but asks them to understand that these works weaken his copyright protection. Help protect his livelihood and ability to keep entertaining us. Please, no fan fiction or fan artwork or other K&K-themed creations without Bill’s specific permission. Bill says : Thanks, and I appreciate your asking. Unfortunately, I’ll have to say that I prefer to discourage fan fiction. Even with the most innocent of intentions, artists in the past have gotten burned by the dilution of copyright. Sorry; I hope you understand, and that you’ll continue to enjoy “K&K.” The same injunction applies to using Kevin and Kell in unauthorized ‘crossovers’ with other on-line comic strips.
