Can I use Tatami Omote on the floor?
FAQ’s Absolutely! Their intended purpose is to be used as floormats. We have several customers who buy our tatami omote specifically for interior decorating uses. If you want to use our mats on the floor or wall there are some things we want you to be aware of: 1) Our mats are the thin cover used on the thicker tatami mats, NOT the 2 inch thick mats; 2) Our mats are not bound along the edges and the long side is “fuzzy” where the ends stick out; 3) If you use them as flooring you should consider using some “non-slip” material underneath to keep them from sliding around; 4) Do not use the mats in an area that will get wet repeatedly or stay damp. Because they are an all-natural organic material the mats are susceptible to mold and mildew.
