Yes, but you will need to be running SmartScore Version 5.2 or later. Most scanner manufacturers have yet to release functional Universal Binary TWAIN drivers. We have implemented a routine to call PowerPC TWAIN drivers via Rosetta. You may update your 5.x copy for free by going to the SmartScore download page here.
