Gomay (dried cow dung pieces) is used and is also medicinal. Alternates are the five ‘Havaniya’ (wood that is prescribed to be used for homa) tree pieces, not sandalwood. Sandal wood can be used merely as an item to burn (indhan). Best is gomay along with that you may use sandalwood if you like. There are several scientific reasons and benefits in using gomay.
