– No. You cannot use your eligibility based on the sales in a previous genre with a lower qualification threshold to qualify under a new genre with a higher qualification threshold. If you were previously an independent jazz artist and now want to apply to the Radio Starmaker Fund as an independent pop artist, you are considered to be a “new” artist to the fund. You will need to ship 10,000 units (plus 15% if it’s within 3 months of the release date of your record) prior to the application deadline for the round in which you are applying. If you’ve already qualified with sales of 10,000 units as an independent jazz artist for a release in the last five years, then you would automatically be able to apply as an independent pop artist.
