It wont work, for you to be able to use the sky+ functions such as pause and rewind, you can cancel the subscription but pay £10 a month to still be able to use the sky+ functions but its crap the way that is, so the better way to go is, buy a freeview recorder, as the sky+ will just work like a normal sky box.
