The quick answer is NO. For fast charging it’s an extra firm NO, and for slow charging, well, a new NiMH-safe slow charger is so cheap now you really should just get a new one and avoid any potential problems. NiMH batteries are very safe and tough and resistant to heat and everyday use, but better to err on the side of safety here.
