Most ham radio transceivers operation in a half duplex mode. Meaning it can only transmit or receive at any given time. More importantly the Echolink software used today can only operate in a half duplex mode. So this means you can set your link radio to 146.52 mhz. or any other simplex frequency and it will work fine for you.
