Can i use melafix with an elephant nose fish?

Before using any treatment, read up on the fish you are treating first. Elephantnose fish are sensitive to water quality, so they aren’t going to like any chemicals added. They tolerate a PH of 7.5, so they won’t mind aquarium salt. (It’s a tonic not a medication, but it can cure ick) I read the articles slating melafix with interest. If the fish is in a bad way and something in the tank weakened its immune system, a full dose of any medication is as likely to kill as cure. You can’t say it doesn’t work, it does, but I personally wouldn’t be putting it in a tank with an ill fish that is sensitive to water quality. It doesn’t bind oxygen as an article suggested, it displaces it, which all medications do.
