Can I Use Materials Like Trex To Make A Table For My Ceramic Cooker?
Trex is member of the family of materials known as Wood-Plastic Composites (WPC). Wood-plastic composite lumber is composed of wood from recovered saw dust (and other cellulose-based fiber fillers such as pulp fibers, peanut hulls, bamboo, straw, digestate, etc.) and virgin or waste plastics including high-density polyethylene, PVC, PP, ABS, PS and PLA. The powder or fibers are mixed to a dough-like consistency and then extruded or moulded to the desired shape. Some of the reasons are that Trex is easily stained especially by oils and fats, it expands and contracts significantly with temperature changes, it supports algae and mold growth in humid and shaded conditions, and most significantly, it melts. It cannot be used in any structural application in residential construction, although one would think it could be used for a small item such as a table. But because of the aforemen
