Can I use Kick-off! with computers that don have standard power cords?
You can use Kick-off! with laptops, USB PowerBooks, flat panel iMacs, Mac mini and other computers with non-standard AC connectors, with some adaptation. You will need two power adapter cables to connect Kick-off! to the computer’s AC adapter. For laptops, you will also need to remove the battery so that Kick-off! can restart the computer by turning the AC power off, then on. You may order the Kick-off! PowerBook adapter cables from our web site, or purchase them from any electronic supply store. To connect Kick-off! to the newer Mac models which have a custom molded flange on their AC power cable, such as the desktop G5 and eMac, simply substitute a standard computer power cable. Note: Kick-off! will not work with Apple’s iBooks. These laptops are designed to be low-end, personal, portable computers. iBooks do not respond to the USB start up signal through the USB port, nor do they support the Energy Saver’s server setting for automatic restart after power failure.
