Can I use GUI tools to facilitate the creation of the various XML files of an SCA application?
Last year, at the San Diego SDRF general meeting, CRC demonstrated a GUI tool called the Waveform Application Builder (WAB). This tool allows a developer to drag’n’drop Resources from libraries (tool bars) and connect them together using direct or indirect type of connections between components of an application. This tool also includes a Component Editor and a Resolved Properties Viewer to edit Resource (or more generically ‘components’) XML descriptions. The WAB automatically generates the SAD XML file and provides graphical ways of defining hostcollocalisation and multiple instantiations of Resources. The WAB can also package a complete waveform application (SAD, SPD, PRFs, implementations, etc.) for installation into a SCARI Core Framework. CRC is also working on a tool called the NodeBuilder that allows the creation of a DCD in much the same way the WAB creates the SAD.
