Can I use GridRoom with a hard-drive based camera that creates separate files for each video clip?
Yes, if the file format is supported by the GridRoom Uploader. Multiple files uploaded together will be grouped into a single GridRoom “video” that is split into a separate clips. The clips available on GridRoom may not correspond exactly to the original video files, depending on the composition of those files (video length and scene changes). The uploader always supports .AVI and .WMV (Window Media) files, and may also support other file types such as .MOV, .MPG, .VOB, etc. However, support for these additional file types depends on the configuration of your computer and whether you have the appropriate Windows video “filters” installed. If you find that your camera’s file format is not supported you can always use a tool such as Windows Movie Maker to convert your files into uncompressed AVI files for uploading with GridRoom. Microsoft provides free versions of Movie Maker for both Windows XP and Vista.
