Can I use granulated sugar instead of powdered sugar?

if the sugar is merely for the topping, you could use regular sugar, or, you could put the sugar in a blender and make powdered sugar

Hi Sin Bin, It would make a difference to the way your cookies come out. I would say No. However you stand a better chance if the cookies are made using the creamed method rather than rubbing in. Baking is a bit of a science as well as an art if you try to mess around with the recipe as it is written, you stand a good chance of mucking it up.To Google for a recipe using granulated sugar would be the best bet I’m sure you will find something similar. Granulated sugar can leave a gritty texture and a grainy appearance to your cookies. It does not always work to just put it in a blender as you can end up with half and half. I hope this helps, all the best.
