Can I use Degradable Sulfur instead of Ammonium Sulfate?
• Degradable Sulfur can displace some or replace all Ammonium Sulfate as part of a long-term, cost-saving and fertilizer volume reducing strategy. • Because Degradable Sulfur is Elemental Sulfur, it provides a natural slow-release mechanism, where Sulfate available from this year’s application combines with Sulfate from last year’s application, in a multi-year program. • A common strategy to introduce Degradable Sulfur involves a larger application in the first year, followed by lower applications in subsequent years gauged by current Sulfate content. • Another strategy is to incorporate blends such as 11-0-0-53 to ensure Sulfate availability early in an Elemental Sulfur program.
