Oh, yes; you can use contour lines to represent a change of height. Steeper level changes are just contour lines closer together. Although, there is a Symbol that specifically represents an embankment. specifically on a 1.25 map. On maps, contours lines are typically used to represent a change in height of the general terrain, and where these lines are really use full is of maps of Mountains/Mountain ranges, i.e. Scottish highlands, Lake district, etc. If, it is a drawing and not a map you are doing, then i suggest you use the Symbol for an embankment. Only use contour lines, if you are going to use them throughout all of your drawing-that’s when it becomes a map !
